What does DIN standard mean?

The DIN standard is a set of rules that is constantly being revised. It is based on scientific and technical findings. The set of rules can be used as a basis for design, but this is not required. However, customer specifications often refer to specific DIN standards. If a specific standard is prescribed, it is necessary to adhere to the corresponding standard. Valves manufactured according to the DIN standard are mainly installed or used in Germany and Europe.

What standards are there?

One of the most important standards regarding face-to-face lengths is DIN EN 558-1. It describes the basic face-to-face lengths of flanged valves. All valves manufactured according to this standard have the same face-to-face length for their respective nominal size. This ensures that valves can be exchanged 1:1 for revisions without the need for any modifications to the pipeline.

Another important standard is DIN EN 1092-1. This standard
describes the flange geometry and the surface quality of the raised face and sealing surface. In addition to the dimensions, tolerances and roughness of the surfaces are also specified.
